[Registry]
Registry is an organization that manages the administrative data for the TLD domains. Each domain has an associated registry, such as “.com / .net” are managed by VeriSign. Registrars are requested to ensure that SRS(※1) could be accessed equally, and to stay neutral position.

[Registrar]
ICANN’s(※ 2) designated Registrar is domain registration service provider, and directly contracted with a Registry. Running their business based on ICANN’s Registrar Accreditation Policy and Registrar Accreditation Agreements, and have sufficient resources, motivation, technical skills and business ability. Registrar can make contract with a Registry (Registry-Registrar Agreement), and register domain information directly to the Registry database through SRS.

※ 1 SRS (Shared Registry System) is software for an unlimited number of registrars to compete in the domain name registration business by using one shared registry. The system is based on the agreement between Registry and U.S. Government. Registrar which is designated by ICANN, and contracted with Registry (Registry-Registrar Agreement), is allowed to operate their business.

※ 2 ICANN refers to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. It is a nonprofit established by the US government to keep the internet functioning, a big component of which involves maintaining unique identifiers.

"Domain is an online address. Those who cannot answer to the question “What is Domain?”, should have known what a website and an email are. Actually, domain is included in those website or email address. Domain is a string of characters made by some rules, and indicate the specific computer online.
IP address is to specify computers, and when it associates with domain, people will be able to access it without memorizing the address.
Domain is usually reffered as “online address”, but more correctlｙ it is “something that makes online address clearer”. You can choose the string of characters, but basically it is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Today, a lot of companies use the specific domain name when they launch new product."

If you wish to use your domain after the expiration date, you should renew your domain before it expires.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [Domain].
2. Click the domain you would like to renew.
3. Choose the time period for which you are renewing your domain name and WHOIS Privacy Protection option, then click [Set].
4. Choose the payment option that works for you, then click [Settlement].

If you wish to use your domain after the expiration date, you should renew your domain before it expires.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [Domain].
2. Click the domain you would like to renew.
3. Choose the time period for which you are renewing your domain name and WHOIS Privacy Protection option, then click [Set].
4. Choose the payment option that works for you, then click [Settlement].

This feature helps to prevent an unauthorized transfer of a domain from Z.com Domain to other domain provider.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [Domain].
2. Click on the relevant domain.
3. Turn the transfer lock to [ON] from [Domain information/Contract information].

You can check the status of a domain name transfer to Z.com Domain.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [Domain].
2. Click [Transfer] on the menu at the left side of the page.
3. You can check the status at the list of domain transfer.
4. If an error occurred, you can check the details of the error at [Details] under the status of the relevant domain.

Client can transfer domain from other registrars to Z.com Domain.
Enter the domain name you want to transfer at [Transfer], then go through the procedure.

Domain owners are required keep WHOIS data of their domain names correct and up-to-date at all times under ICANN’s policy.
It includes registrant, administrative, technical, billing, and contact information (contact info is only for .jp).

※ICANN：A non-profit corporation that was formed to assume responsibility for the allocation or management of domain names, IP addresses, protocols, and root servers.

Z.com Domain offers “WHOIS Privacy Protection ” for people would not like their personal information displayed in the public. Please note that we may stop providing WHOIS Privacy Protection service when there happens to be domain name dispute, or causes domain management problems.

You’re required to complete the registration information when you apply for WHOIS Privacy Protection. You can cancel the service after you signed up.
You can also extend, or cancel the service when you renew domain name.

The registrant, Admin, Tech and Billing contact details for any of your domain names can be modified.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [Domain].
2. Click the relevant domain.
3. Choose the WHOIS contact information you would like to change, and click [Edit].
4. Change the information in the fields as necessary, then click [Save].

You can set up the host to use a name server for name resolution.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [Domain].
2. Click the relevant domain.
3. Set up the host under the [Host Settings] section.

A list of DNS will be displayed at Z.com DNS section. You can check the status and modify some settings.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [DNS].
2. Click the relevant domain.
3. Change the DNS record under the [Edit] section.

Changing name server is required in the case below:
In case you wish to set up your own server and manage your domain by yourself.
Please change the name server to the ones you’ve created.
※It takes 72 hours at most to change the name server details.
1. Log in to the control panel, then click [Domain].
2. Click the relevant domain.
3. Change the name server on [Custom] under the name server setting section.

By utilizing the GeoDNS feature, you are able to add [A record (basic)] and [A record (GeoDNS)] when you edit the domain you created.
An IP address which was added [Region] of [A record (GeoDNS)] by [auto] mode, will be allocated to the nearest region from Japan, Singapore, and the United States.
